The beautiful and lush tropical island of Maui is the second largest of the Hawaiian Islands in the Central Pacific. With thirty colorful sand beaches and clear blue surf waters to explore, Maui is ideal for all of your water sport activities and so much more. Marriott’s Maui Ocean Club sits oceanfront on Ka’anapali Beach in Lahaina, Maui. West Maui Mountain valleys and waterfalls of Lahaina is truly majestic and the back drop of the “5 o’clock rainbow”. The largest Banyan tree of the US can be found on Front Street along with a variety of shops, restaurants, galleries, and entertainment. Set sail at the wharf for an ocean adventure of Humpback whale watching, fishing, snorkeling or charter a cruise for a romantic sunset dinner.
At the north end of Ka’anapali Beach find the famous “Black Rock”, Pu’u Keka’a, a popular spot for snorkeling and cliff diving “lele kawa”. In the 1700’s Chief Kahekili of Maui was the first one known to ever cliff dive. He was said to have jumped cliffs over 300ft, gaining respect from his warriors. Although Black Rock is only around 16ft, legend has it that it is one of the islands three portals “leina” to the afterworld. This eerie jump makes it his most significant. Every evening at sunset watch as torches are lit around the cliffs and a ceremonial dive takes place to honor the brave ancestors of the past. You are sure to be mesmerized by all the history, beauty, and entertainment that Maui has to offer.
