How to Save on Your Timeshare Vacation Rental

How to Save on Your Timeshare Vacation Rental

save-on-timeshare-rental

There are several simple strategies that allow travelers to avoid paying too much for your dream vacation. The biggest is to reserve as a timeshare rental rather than reserving through the developer. Guests can save up to 60%.

Another option to consider would be planning travel during “off-peak” times of the year. In the vacation industry, off-peak weeks for warm-weather destinations, such as Hawaii or the U.S. Virgin Islands, will typically be during May, September, October and early November. If you are planning a colder climate trip, such as a ski trip to Aspen or Vail, your best bet would be to plan your vacation during the late spring or early summer. By booking a timeshare rental during these times, vacationers can get away with paying the price of a hotel room, and be able to stay in a luxurious residence with more space and accommodations.

Besides price, another key advantage of booking during off-peak times will be the ability to have greater access to amenities and activities once guests arrive at their destination. Many exclusive recreation companies, golf clubs, and upscale restaurants at the desired location may require reservations a significant amount of time before the date of the excursion. By booking during off-peak times, the schedules of these institutions will also open up, allowing for greater flexibility of schedule, and the ability to get the most out of the vacation.

Once you and your party have decided what dates work for them and are ready to schedule, there are a few other details to keep in mind as you negotiate price. If the price offered for your time is still a little more than you would like to spend, try scheduling your arrival date as either a Friday or a Sunday, and see if the rate decreases. Additionally, see if the timeshare rental could accommodate your travel party with less rooms. For example, a family of four may ask for a one-bedroom residence instead of a two-bedroom. Keep in mind these residences will typically be more spacious than a hotel room, so your group will still have enough space to spread out. By cutting down on bedrooms, you have the ability to greatly decrease your costs.

Our last, but perhaps most important piece of advice would be to make sure you work with a reputable broker whose credentials and credibility you can check with Better Business Bureau, State Licensing Bureau, etc. Make sure to maintain your best business sense, and don’t fall in love with a rental that seems too good to be true, or do business with a company that you don’t trust. By working with a trustworthy company, you will be able to plan your trip seamlessly and stress-free. The risk of trying to save a few dollars with a less-than-reputable company could result in you and your family and friends showing up to check in for your stay and being unable to, turning your dream vacation into a nightmare. Remember, that if a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is!

That being said, if you keep these tips in mind and are willing to book at the right time and with the right company, there is no reason why you and your fellow vacationers can’t have a great vacation and create lifelong memories.
