Most visitors book trips to Aruba to experience the endless selection of white sand beaches, cool lapping azure waters and warm breezes caressing sun kissed skin but foodies have discovered a secret treasure. The island has long been a popular tourist destination. Hotels and restaurants know that travelers have plenty of choices when it comes to dining and so they have amped up the experience.
In Noord try Madam Jeanette. You will be wowed by the laid back and inviting atmosphere and pleasantly surprised by the amazing fare. Sample the sweet and spicy Bang Bang Shrimp, served on crispy romaine with fresh cut pineapple concasse and sesame seeds. For a main try Madames original Almond Grouper served with a creamed spinach Sauce. Make sure to save room for Crepes Janette, an incredible light pancake stuffed with Bacardi spiced sauteed bananas, topped with Nutella ice cream and toasted almond. Madames pride in her cooking is evident with every morsel.
You don’t have to travel far to find out next favorite. Papiamento is also found in Noord, nestled in a former estate and riding academy. There is plenty of character and charm mixed with the special hospitality only found at a family run establishment. Chef is known for his Shrimp on the Stone and a beautiful grilled tenderloin with gorgonzola au gratin. Papiamento mixes classic french recipes and flare with island fresh seafood and produce to make this a most memorable experience.
And why leave Noord when you don’t have to? For the trifecta, try 2 Fools and a Bull. This is a much different experience than the others but not to be missed if fun and mingling is what you crave. Be prepared for an intimate dinner party with twelve strangers when booking a reservation and book you must. Fools and bulls have become one of the hottest eateries on the island. A return destination for frequent visitors. You are greeted with a champagne cocktail on arrival and treated to a five course meal that follows. The sommelier will pair perfect wines for each course at your request. Don’t tell your friends, meet new ones there.
