Frenchman’s Cove Foodie Guide

One of the draws of staying at Marriott Frenchman’s Cove is having your own full kitchen; which can be great to save money, eat healthy and stay around the resort and relax. 

However, if you will be venturing out to explore and would like some local restaurants and dining options, read on! 

You will either need to have a rental car or take taxis to go out and about on St. Thomas. Many people choose the local taxi service, please note they are CASH only. 

Starting around the Charlotte Amalie area nearest the resort you have a diverse selection. 

Beginning with Gladys restaurant. With a diverse menu and fantastic fresh food options, some of the favorites are the Lobster Omelet, Lobster Stuffed Avocado, Jerk Pork Chops, Goat Curry and Ox tails. Do not miss a chance to have her famous BBC Colada drink! 

When you need your Italian food fix, there is no better choice then Virgilio’s. Filled with beautiful, electric artwork you will have a lovely atmosphere for a romantic, but lively, dinner. Diners rave about the Highlights include table-side Ceasar salad service, authentic pasta dishes, vegetarian and gluten-free options. Save room for the Bananas Foster. 

Located in a converted centuries old warehouse, Stone House Café has a little of something for everyone on their menu and are a good choice for lunch or dinner. Many guests find themselves visiting here several times during their stay on St. Thomas, which is a good plan since the desserts change daily! Described as an American Café and bar, they get raves for the Pineapple fried rice and have a Slider Trio with Mahi Mahi, Chicken and Beef. Did we mention an All Day Happy Hour? 

If you are a BBQ fan you cannot miss a visit to the Smoking Rooster. Not only is the BBQ fantastic, they have the largest rum selection on St. Thomas and you get a side of rum with each dish. If you love rum and are a craft cocktail fan, head there! 

If you travel over to the Red Hook area, the Tap and Still has delicious and inexpensive food. Casual dining that does not disappoint. Straight forward, wings, burgers and sandwiches which pair great with their brews or a spicy margarita. 

Duffy’s Love Shack has been on Red Hook for decades! An open-air restaurant with a roof and chickens running around. This is a festive, party atmosphere and worth the stop if that is your vibe. It has a great variety of fun cocktails, with souvenir cup options! A great place to grab some drinks and share some appetizers.
