Why do I need travel insurance?

Sickness, Injury and Death You or a family member becomes sick, injured, or passes away and you are unable to make the trip or must return home early.Adverse Weather. Your flight is canceled due to adverse weather such as a hurricane or snowstorm.Job Loss. After at least one year of employment you are laid off and can’t go on your trip.Extension of School Year. Your son or daughter attending school must complete an operating session that was extended beyond the pre-defined school year.Military Duty. Due to a natural disaster, you or a traveling companion has been called into active military service to provide relief efforts.Home Uninhabitable. A flood, fire or other natural disaster renders your home residence uninhabitable.

How much does travel insurance cost?

It varies depending on the price of the trip, what state you live in and the amount and ages of travelers. But, typically the rate for insurance will be 6-7% of the value of the trip and to add on “cancel for any reason,” you are looking at an additional 3-3.5% of the value of the trip.

 

How do I purchase travel insurance?

We have a specific link through Concierge Realty that you would use. Your agent can provide that information and will also be happy to walk through the process with you.

 

When should I buy it?

Insurance can be bought anytime prior to travel. But, it cannot be bought after one of the instances occurs (hurricane, sickness, etc.) The “Trip Cancellation for Any Reason” can ONLY be purchased at initial deposit. (NOT AVAILABLE IN NEW YORK) CSA does offer a “10-day free look period” – you can buy insurance and then cancel your plan and receive a full plan cost refund within 10 days and if you have not filed a claim.

Does it cover plane fare if I didn’t buy the airline tickets from you?

It will cover if your flight is canceled due to adverse weather such as a hurricane or snowstorm.

If I have an existing medical condition, can I still buy travel insurance?

You can buy it and there is a pre-existing waiver, but as each case is very different, this is something you would need to discuss with CSA.

Does the policy cover damage or liability from a car accident?

Provides primary coverage if the car you rented while on your trip is damaged due to collision, fire, flood, theft, vandalism, windstorm or hail. (NOT AVAILABLE IN TEXAS)

Does the policy cover medical expenses if we get sick or injured while traveling?

Medical and Dental Coverage: Provides coverage for the necessary medical, surgical and emergency dental care costs if you become sick or accidentally injured while on your covered trip. Coverage is in excess of your standard coverage, except where prohibited.

If we get sick while traveling and need to return home for treatment, will the policy cover any associated costs?

Provides 150% reimbursement for unused, non-refundable, pre-paid trip costs if your trip is interrupted due to a covered event. Also provides reimbursement for the additional transportation cost to return home or rejoin your group.

What happens if our baggage is lost?

Provides coverage for loss, theft or damage to your baggage and covered personal effects during your covered trip. As well, provides reimbursement for the purchase of necessary items if your baggage is delayed for more than 24 hours during your covered trip.

If there is a hurricane, do we get a full refund?

You will get a full refund if your travel days fall within 30 days of the evacuation order being lifted. After that, it is a case by case basis.

Can I change the details of my policy if I have not yet traveled?

No details are changed from policy to policy. The “Trip Cancellation for Any Reason” can ONLY be bought at initial purchase.

How do I get a copy of my policy once purchased?

You are sent a copy of the policy once purchased.

How do we make a claim?

Follow the link you agent provides you with or have your agent help you. You can also call CSA Travel for help.

 

How do I check the status of a claim?

You need to call CSA Customer Service to check on the status- 800-541-3522

 

Are we covered for cancelling regardless of the reason?

Only if you bought the “Cancel for any Reason” optional upgrade which has to be purchased within 24 hours of initial deposit. You are provided reimbursement up to 75% of non-refundable trip cost.

If we cancel for a covered reason, do we get a full refund?

Provides 100% reimbursement for unused, non-refundable, pre-paid trip costs if you are prevented from taking your trip due to a covered reason.

 

If we cancel for any reason, do we get a full refund?

You are provided reimbursement up to 75% of non-refundable trip cost.

 

How quickly do we get reimbursed?

CSA strives to reimburse by 40 days after all paperwork has been submitted. Each claim is different, so there are circumstances where this may not happen.
